Geography Of Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand is well known for climatic condition and vegetation, has a total geographic area of 51,125 km², of which 93% is mountainous and 64.81% is covered by Forest. Most of the northern parts of the state are part of Greater Himalaya ranges, covered by the high Himaliyan peaks and glaciers, while the lower foothills were densely forested and situated at coordinates 30.19″ N and 78.04″ E in the northwest portion of Uttar Pradesh. It shares its border with Himachal Pradesh and Utter Pradesh in India.
Ganga and Yamuna are the two important river originated in the glaciers of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand enjoys two diverse climatic conditions .The hilly regions of Uttarakhand enjoy cool conditions whereas the plain regions of the state have a tropical climate with hot and humid summers and cold winters with snowfall and mild summers. Nanda Devi in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand is the highest point in the state at 7,817 m above sea level.
